What A Weekend
My nephew was in town last week and stayed with my Dad. They had a good time and I am glad that Tatortot got to spend some time with Gran. Gran needed it. Friday we headed north to take Tator home and to spend some time with Madcow and my bil. Of course we got away from the house late, had to go pick up the boy, stop by Mrs. H's house (and she gave us some very yummy cookies for the trip. . . Thank you!), run by the bank and then hit the road. We stopped for lunch, Tator's choice and then hit the road again. We of course got caught up in traffic due to a jack knifed truck (we found out later) and finally made it into the big city at 5:00 pm. A wonderful time to hit traffic and with some heavy rain. Made it to our hotel, unpacked and then headed to my sister's house. We visited, ate dinner and then took Madcow and Tatortot with us. We had to go to WalMart to get a few items and finally got to the hotel around midnight. It was late (or early depending on how you look at it) when we finally all got settled into bed. After a good night's sleep we went swimming for about an hour and a half. Fun times but they wore me out and almost drowned me on more than one occasion. We finally got back to their house, played some more Wii, visited with my Dad and my sister (not the mother of the kids, she was out of town), bil and my G-mom. Fast forward to after church Sunday morning . . . . . .we headed to my Aunt J and Uncle R's home for a mini family reunion with family who were in the state from Minnesota. It was nice to visit but these get togethers just aren't the same without my Mom there. She just brought something to the party that is now missing. It was great to see everyone but we were glad to finally pull into our driveway about 9:15 last night. Well, I hope you all had a great weekend too.

Mountains or Beaches
Tomorrow over at Ashes for Beauty is having another round of Friday with Friends. Go by and visit if you have a chance. She wants to know which you prefer, the mountains or the beach. My picture should tell you what my choice is!
I am a mountains kind of girl. Don’t get me wrong, I like the sand and the water but the mountains are for me. My Mom loved the mountains and when we were there in July I felt just a little closer to her. Plus there is snow (not something we get a lot of), cooler weather, lots of beauty and a lovely smell. I hope to go to the mountains in the winter sometime soon. Please excuse the reflection of the purple notebook in the window.

Fun
I have had a super fun last couple of days. . . .so much so that I am not sure where to start! Well, ok I really do know where to start but I wanted to make things more exciting. Monday, well you have already read a little about this day. My sister and Tatortot got here so us girls could get our fun started. Tuesday I got up, ate breakfast with my Dad and Tatortot at Whataburger, came home and packed, and did a couple of things around the house before we left to head to the BIG CITY to see WICKED. We hit the road (after stopping by RAW's house to pick up the tickets), stopped at Chuy's for lunch (yum) and then got to downtown to find out hotel. We stayed at the Hyatt Regency, lazed around for a while and then got ready because it was time to head to the Theater Under the Stars to see WICKED. We get to the theater, find our seats and wait with anticipation for the show to start. It started (we had great seats), intermission came, it started again and then it ended. . . . .no, it was so good that I don't want it to end. My friends, this musical is AWESOME!!! I enjoyed it so much and I know that my Mom would have absolutely LOVED it too. I wish she could have been there with us. For those of you who I don't know in real life, my mom had a beautiful voice and I miss hearing her sing. I have to admit, I cried during the last two or three scenes because I was missing my Mom so much. After the show we went to Whataburger for dinner (picked it up around 11:55 pm and got to eat about 12ish or so!), watched a little tv and went to bed.
This morning we got up and quickly got ready (in less than 2 hours, folks that is good for three girls!) and headed out to IKEA. I had never been there before and I hope to go back again. I spent the least out of the three of us!! Then we headed home but not before stopping at The Olive Garden. . . . .yum is all I am going to say. We stopped at the outlet mall so my sister B could buy some tennis shoes and that is all I will say about that!!
Anyway, we had a great time and we all loved the show. If you ever get the chance RUN don't walk to ticket office and buy your ticket and take a friend!!
The rest of my week will be spent with my Tatortot before he has to go home. So have a good rest of the week my friends.

Today
Today was another difficult day we had to deal with since Mom is gone. We divided up her jewelry. Not a fun thing to do but we enjoyed remembering the different occasions my Dad gave her the jewelry. I miss my Mom so much.

Misc.
Weekly Menu:
Monday: chicken quisadillas & spanish rice
Tuesday: fend for yourself
Wednesday: fend for yourself
Thursday: fend for yourself
Friday: out to eat
Saturday: out to eat
Yes, I know that this is a very lame looking menu but sometimes that just happens. Tuesday evening, I will be in the big city watching WICKED with my sisters. I am excited about seeing this and spending time with my sisters. The rest of the week my nephew Tatortot will be in town (very excited about this!) so who knows what will be going on!
Summer continues to fly by and I still have not heard from any schools about an interview. Very frustrating times. I still cannot believe that getting a teaching job has been so stinking difficult. I know God has a plan and I just have to wait but I am not good at that.
Well, I had better go. Hope everyone had a good weekend. Ours was busy as usual.

Weekly Menu
Well, I finished mowing this morning and I am once again covered head to toe with dirt! BUT today I didn't smash my thumb. Man is it hot. I don't know what it is like where you live but it is hot and very dry here. We would really like some rain which we will probably get because I am getting ready to go out and wash the hubsters truck and we are supposed to be getting one of the hay fields cut this week so clean vehicle + hay on the ground = (almost always) rain!! At least that is how it seems. Well, I guess I had better go get washing (it is filthy) before it gets any hotter! I did accomplish something while resting (procrastinating) I finally finished up this week's menu so here it is.
Monday: poppyseed chicken and corn (Dad and I) and corn tortillas with pepperjack cheese for the Mr.
Tuesday: little smokies in bbq sauce and potato salad
Wednesday: fend for yourself
Thursday: leftovers and corn on the cob
Friday: out to dinner
Saturday: fend for yourself

Missing Sleep
Well, since we got back from vacation I haven't been sleeping very well. Wish I knew what the reason for that is. Tonight I am so tired I am afraid that I am going to fall asleep in my chair. I am hoping that since I mowed and did some housework today I will sleep tonight. That way I can mow some more and do some more house work tomorrow! I still haven't gotten all of our stuff put away from vacation. We did get the trailer taken back down to my Dad's house and finished getting the stuff out of the suburban. Maybe by the end of the week all traces of vacation will be gone!!
Is it just me or is the summer just flying by? Before we know it school will be starting up again and Christmas will be here (it is less than 6 months away). I am hoping to see the short people soon. I miss those stinkers. As you can tell, I don't have a lot to talk about so I am going to close and go fill out some more job applications. Til tomorrow or the next day or the next!!

July 8, 2009 - July 8, 2010
One year ago today we received news that no one ever wants to hear. My mom was diagnosed with leukemia. So much has happened since that day. (this picture was taken the day she was released). I miss her so much.
We found out yesterday that a lady we met while Mom was at MDA (she also had a stemcell transplant), passed away yesterday. She left behind her husband and three young children. Please keep Kelly's family in your prayers.

Vacation: After
I love vacations but I do not like having to get things back together afterwards! I did manage to get my clothes (both clean and dirty) out of the camper today. Unfortunately, that was about it! I need to mow but my mower is broke so that means I have to borrow my Dad's mower which means that I need Mr. Giggles truck which means that he has to drive my car which he does not like. So, mowing may not get done tomorrow either. I am hoping for some motivation to get the trailer unloaded and the house put back together.
If you know me, you know how much I love to read (mainly non-fiction). I love to read the story and not have to think, I can just get lost in the story. Right now I am reading the Memory Keepers Daughter and it is a really good book. While on vacation I read a good one by Sandra Brown but I can't remember what the name is. Well, that is all for tonight.
Oh, isn't it great when your friends know what you need to hear to make your night? Some of my friends did that for me tonight and it was all because of some of the words from the Hannah Montana theme song! Thanks guys!

I Figured Out Something
I figured out a way to change my background but it is not the way I usually do it. Very frustrating because they way I had to do it today will not allow me to change the colors for the text. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrgggggggggggggggggggggggg!
This weeks menu:
Monday: eat at Dad's house - yummy homemade chili and rice
Tuesday: poppyseed chicken (if I remember to get it out of the freezer) and salad for the Mr.
Wednesday: leftovers or fend for yourself
Thursday: corn on the cob and leftovers
Friday: out to dinner
Saturday: fend for yourself

Catching Up!
Wow, it has been a looong time since I have really blogged. Well, let me tell you what I have been up to.
On Wednesday, June 16th, we headed off to beautiful Colorado to meet my Dad and my sister for vacation. We reached our destination on Friday afternoon and we were excited to be there. With the excitement was sadness because this was the trip we were supposed to take with my Mom; at least, that is what Dad's plan had been. Well, we parked our trailer at Fun Valley and started our vacation. Saturday we went to Creed (they have the neatest shops but our favorite is The Holy Moses) and then drove around the mountain some just checking out the sights. Sunday we got up and went to church and then headed to Wolf Creek Pass/ Continental Divide and played in the snow. The snow was beautiful. We had fun throwing snowballs at each other. I didn't do much hiking around in the snow because the altitude was making me feel pretty yucky. Monday my Dad and sister headed home and Mr. G. and I headed to Pagosa Springs and spent some time shopping. Tuesday was Alamosa, Wednesday was Gunnison, Thursday South Fork, and Friday was Monte Vista and Del Norte (all day trips). Saturday we pretty much just hung around the trailer (nice and lazy day). Sunday we headed to Woodland Park outside of Colorado Springs so that we could go to Pikes Peak (an awesome drive!), Cave of the Winds (thought I was going to die because I am so out of shape) and then Garden of the Gods on Tuesday. Wednesday we headed home and returned to our humble abode Saturday night.
July 4th: we went to church, at lunch with the in-laws, came home and took a nap, went back to church and then headed to the in-laws house to celebrate Mr. G's birthday that occurred while we were gone. We ate (hamburger for me and lasagna for the Mr), watched some tv, went to the city fireworks display (hadn't done that in a long time), and then went back to their house and watched a movie. Watching the fireworks brought back so many memories. I kept seeing my Mom and remembering all the times we did fireworks at the lake and Mom would always play with the sparklers. So I watched the entire show with tears running down my cheeks.
Today Mr. G went to work for a few hours to catch up and I did absolutely nothing! Tomorrow I will have to start baling hay, I mean mowing my yard and finish unpacking the trailer and trying to get the house back in some sort of order! Now that we are home I really have to work on finding a job so please keep that in your prayers. I think that has you pretty much caught up with me and life in my lane!!

Hi Mrs. H's Mom! :)
?????????
Ok, have they changed up blogger and made it difficult to change your template? I have tried for two days now and all I could get was what you see. Bland or stick with my old template (which personally, I am tired of). Has anyone else had problems? Or have I just lost my computing ablility?
