Oh Tuesday

This morning started out like usual (for days when I have a sub job). Get ready and out the door early enough to stop at McDonald's (if the school I am working at is close by) to see my Dad and to get a drink to sip on during the day. This morning was one of those days that I was out of the house early enough and the school was right down the road so at McDonald is where I was. Got my drink, visited with Dad and his morning breakfast buddies, saw his hand and made him promise to go to the doctor to see if it was broken and then left. Jumped in my truck (not really jumped) and headed out of the parking lot and down the road to school. As I was coming up to the light to turn left to go to school, my truck died. It just DIED. . . . at the light (at least it wasn't in the middle of the intersection which has happened once before with this truck). IT WON'T START!!! Please note that this is about 6 minutes before 8:00 am. Call Dad and tell him and he says he will be there in a minute. Call hubs to let him know and to get the phone number for the tow truck. Call the school to let them know that I will be late and why (thankfully I know the ladies in the office really well). Sit through two light cycles (because I can't go anywhere) with about 20 cars lined up behind me. Someone actually honks. Hey buddy. . . . .my flashers are on, think that might mean something???? Dad and his friend get there and of course I am in the left turn lane and there is nowhere to go except onto a busy road from there so they tell me to turn it to the right as soon as there is a break in traffic and head to the CVS parking lot. Light changes and there is actually no straight or right turn traffic (that is because everyone on the road is now behind me trying to go left!). Get to the parking lot, Dad determines it is the fuel pump (again), get it parked, call the wrecker, wait for the wrecker, wrecker arrives and picks up the traitorous truck, wrecker leaves, wait for Dad to come back to pick me up (good thing I don't drink since I was waiting in front of a liquor store!), Dad gets back and I make it to work a little before 9:00!! Thankfully my sub job today is super easy!!!  And thankfully my Dad has an extra vehicle that I can drive until mine gets fixed!!!

Hope you are having a great week!!

Happy Birthday Momma!

Today would have been my Mom’s 62nd birthday.  It still breaks my heart to know that we didn’t get to spend it with her.  I miss looking for and buying her birthday gifts.  I miss baking a cake for her.  I miss watching her open her gifts.  I miss seeing her with her grandkids.  I just plain miss my Mom.  It is still so hard without her.   My Dad took flowers to her grave and he put some on our baby’s grave also.  I took her some flowers and a butterfly balloon.

Happy birthday to the most special Mom ever.  You were such an inspiration to all those around you, a great example of a Godly woman, a loving person who went out of her way to help others and the best hugger in the world.  We miss you.  I love these pictures so you will probably see them again on their anniversary!!
Just celebrated 40 years one month before.

Newly weds.

Catching Up

Well, it has been pretty quiet around here so I haven’t had anything to write about.  There still isn’t much going on but Mr. Giggles had a conference in Austin so I thought I would share some of the pictures from that trip.  We weren’t in a really good location and I hate driving in Austin so I stayed at the hotel the entire time.  I decided to wait until the last day to take pictures and wouldn’t you know, the cold front came in sooner than they had said so I had no sun.  And there wasn’t anything too exciting to take pictures of except for some babies so my pictures aren't what I had wanted.
I hope you are having a good week.

Devastation

Last night when we got home from church I started seeing things of facebook about an explosion at a fertilizer plant in West, Texas.  I didn’t really understand the devastation of what happened until this morning and pictures began showing on the news and the internet.  The shock of the explosion measured as a 2.1 magnitude on the Richter scale.  Within a 3000 foot radius there was a high school, middle school, nursing home, hospital and right outside of that radius is IH 35.  Apparently a fire started in the plant around 6:30 or so and while firefighters were on the scene fighting the fire, the plant exploded sending up a mushroom cloud like from a nuclear blast.  There were homes that were leveled, the nursing home roof collapsed, and the schools damaged.  As of right now there is still no confirmed number of people killed and but they do know that there are many injured.  About 1 this morning Texas Task Force 1 was sent to the scene by the governor and Texas A&M University’s Veterinary Emergency team has also been sent.  Please pray for those who have been affected by this tragedy and for those dealing with the Boston tragedy.

What Are You Watching?

I hate to say this but I am a tv addict.  I have been searching for something to write about because I haven’t posted anything in forever!  So I thought I would bore share with you what I watch on a weekly basis.  Please don’t think badly of me because of all the tv I watch!  When you don’t have kids you can do things like this.  Please note that these are what I watch at night.
Sunday: Army Wives and The Client List
Monday:  Bones, The Following, Castle and beginning in a few weeks Warehouse 13 comes back on.
Tuesday:  don’t really watch much on Tuesdays.  If we taped something on Mondays we may catch up on Monday shows..
Wednesday:  if we get home in time we will watch Duck Dynasty but we usually tape it and watch it later.
Thursday: The Big Bang Theory, Big Bang reruns and then Elementary
Friday:  we don’t watch much on Friday nights because we are usually out but sometimes I would tape Last Man Standing and Malibu Country
Saturday:  usually Big Bang Theory reruns.  During the day the tv usually stays on the SyFy channel for the hubs.

I also like Lizard Lick towing so I will watch it on my computer whenever they post the episode.
And there you go folks. . . . .the proof that I am addicted to tv and spend a lot of time watching it.  Yes, I am sure that my brain will melt one of these days!!
What are you watching? What is your favorite show?
