What A Week It Has Been

This week has been an emotional roller coaster and I am exhausted on this Thursday evening.  Monday was an anniversary of sorts but I have already written about that.  Tuesday my ob/gyn passed away after a brief illness.  He was only 56 years old.  Dr. B was the most incredible doctor.  You never left his office feeling like a patient. . . .you always left feeling like a person and that you were a friend of his.  Dr. B had been with us through two baby losses.  When we lost our little boy he was as upset as we were.  He sent us a sympathy card when my Mom passed away.  He knew my parents and my sister was also his patient so he knew most of us.  I am really going to miss him.  I am still in shock.
Wednesday was a going a way party at church for some sweet friends.  I am really going to miss this family.  They are very special people.  Keeping our fingers crossed that after our new hospital opens up that they may be able to move back.
Tomorrow will be 3 years since my Mom passed away.  I miss her still and will write more about it tomorrow.

I hope you are all having a good week.  It has gotten colder here again. . . .not snow cold but much cooler than it was the last couple of weeks.  I have been freezing the last couple of days.  Just can't get warmed up and I am really tired of it!  Well, more later.

Tears

I have cried more today than I have in a long time.  I wrote about it here. It has to do with my Mom and an anniversary that is coming up this week.  I miss her a lot.  Unless you have lost your Mom, I don't think you can understand what it feels like.  I have lost my best friend, the person who I could always count on to be my cheerleader, who would listen to anything I had to say, who loved me no matter what. . . .even when I was at my worst.  That being said, I was going to blog more about my trip to San Antonio but I don't feel like it so you will have to wait another day or so.  I am sure you are sitting on the edge of your seat!

Have a great week.

San Antonio Rose

Deep within my heart
Lies a melody,
A song of old San Antone,
Where in dreams I live
With a memory,
Beneath the stars all alone.

Well, it was there I found
Beside the Alamo
Enchantment strange as the
Blue up above,
For that moonlit pass
That only he would know
Still hears my broken song of love.

Moon in all your splendor,
Known only to my heart,
Call back my rose,
Rose of San Antone!
Lips so sweet and tender,
Like petals fallin apart,
Speak once again of my love, my own
Broken song,
Empty words I know
Still live in my heart all alone,
For that moonlit pass by the Alamo,

And rose my rose of San Antone!

So, the hubs and I spent Monday through Thursday in San Antonio.  He had to go for a work conference and I went because I could!!  We stayed in the Menger Hotel which is believed to have some ghost living there (and yes, I did kind of spook myself out at night!!).  It was built in the late 1800's and is a beautiful place.

Beautiful stained glass window in ceiling.

Seth Thomas standing clock with both time and date.
The courtyard area at the hotel is beautiful.  One area is a garden and the other area is the swimming pool.  I didn't take any pictures of the pool area because there were people swimming.  I love to swim and we have had warmer temps but I am afraid that the water would have been too cold for me!!

Our  (2nd) room was above this area.

Cyclomen looking beautiful in the courtyard.

I forgot to mention that due to some unforeseen circumstances with our first room, we were quickly moved to a suite.  The suite was wonderful and we enjoyed having more space and a bathroom that wasn't smaller than the one we have at home!!  Here are a few pictures of the William Menger Suite.

We had a great trip which included eating at Rio Rio Cantina, Chili's and the Lonestar Cafe (and yes, I had chicken at every single place!!)

I have more pictures from the trip but I think I will save them for another post.  I hope you enjoyed.

Oh. . . .I forgot that I wanted to put one more picture in this post.

I loved his pink hat!

CHICKEN

The hubs and I have been out of town this week because he had a conference and because I went just because!!!  On our way home this afternoon I came to the realization that I have had a lot of chicken this week.  Here is the rundown of my chicken intake. . . .
Monday before leaving town I ate three pieces of chicken fajita meat
1/2 way to our destination the hubs was hungry so we stopped at Sonic and shared some popcorn chicken
for dinner I had chicken taquitos
Tuesday for lunch I had bourbon chicken and for dinner I had chicken fajitas
Wednesday for lunch I had a Big Mac (no, this is not chicken and I am aware of that) and for dinner I had chicken fried chicken
Today for lunch I had chicken enchilada soup and a grilled chicken sandwich and for dinner chicken taquitos
This made me laugh so hard!!  I told the hubs that I DID NOT want chicken of any kind tomorrow.  We shall see how it goes!!
Tomorrow I will post some pictures from our trip and see if you can figure out where we went.
Hope you are having a great week!

Dreams

Last night I dreamed about my Mom.  It was so real.  I don't remember what the dream was about but I remember being so very happy spending time with her and talking with her.  I still miss her so much.

Today they started playing a new commercial about McDonald's fish bites.  It reminded me of the filet o'fish commercial that came out in 2009.  My Mom and I learned the song and we sang it so much during spring break that year we almost drove my Dad, husband and sister insane!  I really miss the funny stupid things we used to do together.

Here is my finally finished (I know, I know I was just being lazy about getting it finished) Valentine's Day mantle decor.  And my outside flag.

Happy Birthday

Friday was my sister in laws birthday and they came to town last night so we could celebrate today.  We ate lunch at Johnny Carino's and then we went to my inlaws house for cake and presents.  We had a chocolate ganache cake which was yummy but oh so sweet.  My mil also made cookies and brownies which were also good.  I decided that I was going to make my sil something for her birthday and I thought about it for several weeks and then changed my mind about a 1000 times!  Here is what I ended up making.

I love doing crafts but I used to do a lot with my Mom and it makes me sad that she isn't here to help me.  I haven't done much since she passed away but I am trying to get back into my crafting groove.  I had such a good time doing this for my sil that I want to make one for myself.  I will see what I can come up with.  I will share as soon as I figure it all out.

Have a great week.  I hope I can come up with more to talk about this week!!

What's for Dinner. . . . . .

This week the hubster has made the decisions on what we will be eating so all I have to do is cook it!!

MONDAY:  lasagna, garlic breadsticks, corn, salad
TUESDAY:  grilled cheese, tomato soup (him), chicken noodle (me), spicy crackers
WEDNESDAY: fend for yourself
THURSDAY: out for Valentine's day
FRIDAY:  out to eat with Dad and RAW
SATURDAY:  fend for yourself

Now I have got to find my lasagna recipe for cooking times!

Cool

This evening I went outside just to see if there was anything to take a picture or two of.  I haven't charged the battery for my DSLR so I just used my little point and shoot and because I was feeling artsy I changed it to black and white.  Here are a few pictures I took.

I would love to take some photography courses to learn more about taking pictures.  I love taking pictures of things (people. . . . .I need more practice!).  I hope everyone is having a great week.

Weekend

I am sure you all have those weekends that just don't pan out the way you had planned.  Friday night the hubster and I went out to dinner by ourselves because he was hungry, my sister was tied up with softball and my Dad was on his way back from the big city.  I really like chinese food but our dinner was just. . . . .well, lackluster to say the least.  I was pretty disappointed actually.  Since there were still two weeks until payday, we just decided to go home.  We were home on a Friday night before 7:00 pm.  I watched Last Man Standing and Malibu Country (I love Reba but this show just doesn't do anything for me.  I keep watching and hoping that it will get better but so far no luck.) and the Mr. was in bed by 7:30.  Since the night was young, the hubs was asleep and I never get to watch romantic movies at the theater. . . .I watched "The Vow".  I really enjoyed it. When the movie was over and I was getting ready for bed, the hubs got up.

Saturday we got up with the intent to go to the movies.  Well, when we got there we found out that the one we were planning to see was in 3d and due to the hubs glasses he didn't think that the 3d glasses would fit.  Plus, I don't like paying the extra to "borrow" the glasses so we left and checked out Tuesday Mornings and Burke's Outlet to see if we could find some good deals.  Couldn't find thing.  The high point of the day was going to Dairy Queen for ice cream and nachos and a visit with my Dad.

Sunday during the day we napped because we had been invited over to our friend's mansion I mean house for fajitas, visiting and football.  We don't watch football and could have cared less who won!  The food was great and the fellowship was wonderful.  We really enjoyed our time with our church friends.

And today was a sleep deprived back to the old grind kind of day.  I am so ready for bed as soon as Castle is over I will be heading that direction.  Hopefully I will have a more exciting day since I am teaching 2nd graders and I will have more to talk about.  I really need to charge the battery for my camera so I can take some pictures to put on here!!

Hope you're having a good week.
