Show Us Your Singles

Do you have someone in your life who you pray for constantly for them to find the perfect mate?  Well, I have a very special person that I pray for and my prayer is that she will find someone who is perfect for her and will be her forever love.  I would like to introduce you to my sister Rae Anne.  She is one of my favorite people in the world.  She makes me laugh, she makes me cry, she makes me mad, she makes me a better person but most of all she makes me glad that we are related.  There are so many more things I can say about my sister and I don't know where to begin so here is a list that is in no specific order, just the facts about my sister that I think you should know!

Rae Anne is a:
*faithful member of the church of Christ with a great love for the Lord

*teacher and coach - senior English, softball and volleyball.  Teaching is not just a job to Rae.  She has touched the lives of so many of her students.  There are many former students who keep in contact with her to let her know how they are doing in college.  Many of them are the first members of their family to attend college and for some of them she is part of the reason they are going to college.

*enjoys watching and playing sports.  She played volleyball and softball while growing up and played volleyball in junior college.  She played intramural sports at A&M.  When she has time she still plays a little softball.

*is a TEXAS AGGIE fan -graduated from A&M in 99 with a degree in education.

*loves kids, especially her nephew and niece - she makes sure to do something special with each of them when possible.  She gives my niece help with her softball playing, supports my nephew with his football playing, during the summer she tries to spend as much time with them as possible.

*enjoys spending time with her family. . .good thing because we like to spend time together.

*enjoys vacationing in Colorado - we all love to camp and spent many vacations as a family in the mountains.

*doesn't drink or smoke or date guys who do!!

*lives in the great state of Texas - as if there is any other state to live in!!!

*cares about her students, her friends, her co-workers and of course her family and we all care about her.

*loves to have a good time out with friends but doesn't mind staying at home watching tv with a fire in the fireplace (yes, we do get to have fires in the fireplace in Texas. . . .occasionally!)

*she is an AWESOME cook (she loves making Paula Deen recipes).  She is a big hit at the field house when she has leftover sweets she wants to share.

*is HiLiArIoUs! She will make you laugh until you cry (or wet your pants!).  Sarcasm is her super power (mine too. . . .it runs in the family because of course we are all super heros in our family!)

*loves to sing and does it well - just ask her students. . .she sings to them in class.

*is an accomplished pianist - I really enjoy listening to her play.

*has a cat named Bud - you will just have to meet Bud yourself. . . .he is one of a kind!!

My sister is a one of a kind person and I want her to be happy.  She is a beautiful person both inside and out.

And here are some more pictures of my sister Rae Anne.  If you would like to contact her, leave me a comment and I will pass it own.  PS:  She read my blog.

What's Cookin?? And Other Stuff

This week's menu is pretty boring but it includes two meals I like!

Monday:  breakfast tacos for the hubby (he has a school board meeting and will be home late) and I have no idea for myself!!

Tuesday:  salad for the hubs and salad or baked potato for me

Wednesday:  fend for yourself

Thursday:  chili dogs and mashed potato salad

Friday:  out to eat with Dad

Saturday:  fend for yourself

We had a church luncheon yesterday and I took creamy ranch potatoes and a cake.  I have added the recipe for the potatoes here.  The cake was strawberry with funfetti icing!!

I am so glad that it is finally fall.  Does it feel like fall. . . .oh no way!  Temps in the mid 90's all week long.  We are getting dangerously dry around these parts again.  Sure could use a lot of fall rain.  And some much cooler weather.  October is my favorite month and it is almost here!!  And it is quickly closing in on the holiday season and I am not ready to start Christmas shopping.  I am excited for the holidays but being unemployed has really hurt the checking and savings accounts.  Hopefully I will find something soon.

Yesterday at church the sermon touched on contentment.  Oh man did I feel like my toes were getting stomped on.  There are so many things in my life that I am not content with and along with that I struggle with jealousy.  It makes me crazy but I just can't seem to turn it over to God.

And lastly I miss my Mom so much.  Time doesn't help with the pain of losing people you love.  She always had such sound advice and a hug to go along with it.  I know that my sisters are going through things right now that they would love to have my Mom around for.  And it still breaks my heart to see the pain of missing Mom on my Dad's face.

Ok so I wasn't finished like I thought I was!  These two short people are growing up so quickly.  I miss them tons and love them more than they will every know.

Can You Believe It???

This morning I discovered that there are only 44 days until Halloween, 66 days until Thanksgiving AND only 98 days until Christmas!!!  This year is flying by so quickly.  I have really got to start planning for the holidays!

The weather has been so nice and cool this weekend.  We even got a little rain (not enough but some is better than none).  Right now the temperature is still 73 degrees which is lovely.  Everyday this week is supposed to be in the upper 80's or lower 90's.  Yippee!!!  Bring on FALL!!!

A couple of weeks ago I had a first and second interview for a teaching position at a local middle school.  I waited to hear something and got nothing.  After three phone calls and an email to the principal I was finally told that they were interviewing more candidates.  Last week I got the letter saying thanks but we picked someone else.  Job hunting really sucks.  I mean. . . .it really does.  This week I will be applying for something non teaching related.  Wish me luck.

Are you ready for fall??  I am.  I am thinking that I might even get into the spirit of things a little more this year.  You see, since my Mom died I haven't done much decorating for any of the holidays.  I miss it so I am thinking that maybe the desire is coming back.  I do hate having to pull everything out of my storage building though.  So I really, really, really need to get cracking on the house cleaning.  Oh how I hate cleaning the house.  My hubs cleaned out our refrigerator this weekend.  It was way overdue and I am very thankful for him having done it.

Well, that is all for now.  I have housework, job applications and grocery shopping to get done today.  So, I will leave you with a pretty picture to enjoy!

I Have to Admit. . . . . .

that I am addicted to some tv shows that will probably make you shake your head at!  One of the shows that I can't stand to miss is called Lizard Lick Towing on TRUTV.  It is about a repo company in South Carolina.  I don't know why I like to watch it but I do.  The next one is called American Hoggers and it is about a Texas family who hunt feral pigs.  I am watching it tonight because a friend of mine is on the show.  It is wild and crazy!  And so that is what I like to watch on tv.  Along with the regular shows we always watch like The Big Bang Theory, Castle and a few others.  Just thought I would share!!

88 Years Old & The Weekend

This weekend we celebrated my Gmom W.'s birthday.  Not just any birthday but her 88th birthday.  Can you imagine living 88 years?  It was a great celebration and it was wonderful seeing so much of our family.  I have gone through my pictures and I thought I had one of her with us on vacation one year but I can't find it. So frustrating!

Besides celebrating Gmom's birthday it was a busy busy weekend around here.  Not necessarily for us but around town.  There was the Kolache Festival (about 30 minutes away), County Fair and Rodeo, First Yell, Midnight Yell and last but not least the debut of TAMU in the SEC against Florida.  We didn't win and I didn't watch game but at least it wasn't a blowout game!  My alma mater did win though!
Well, I have got to get some things done around the house.

What's For Dinner

This week's menu is going to be kind of boring but this is what we will be eating.

Monday:  pork chops (topped with bread crumbs and parmesan cheese) and homemade mashed tators
Tuesday:  fish sticks with mac and cheese
Wednesday:  fend for yourself
Thursday:  still trying to figure it out
Friday:  out to dinner
Saturday:  fend for yourself

See, I told you it was boring!!

Heat, September and Labor Day. . .Oh and football!

Happy Labor day to you all.  Unfortunately around here everyone is working today.  I would have loved to get to spend the day with my hubby at home since we were tied up all weekend with church activities.  BUT everyone around here that works in education has to work today (except for me because I am still unemployed).  So I will spend this Labor day holiday laboring at home trying to get some organization in our chaotic home.  Wish me luck!

September. . . .wow it can't already be September.  There are only 112 days until Christmas.  This summer has really flown by this year.  The whole month of June was spent teaching summer school.  July was spent on vacation in Colorado and in the hospital.  I have no idea what happened in August. . . .I really think we just skipped over it completely!

I don't know what it is like heat wise where you live but this weekend felt like we were living in an oven.  The temps this week are supposed to 100 everyday.  I don't want to go outside at all!  I need to finish mowing my yard but I don't want to!

Well, we are not big football fans around here.  I will watch Sam Houston or A&M if they are on tv but I won't watch an entire game.  I just flip back and forth to see the score.   My hubster on the other hand will only watch whatever sport my sister is coaching or the nephew and niece are playing.  Therefore the only things that really affects us during the football season are:  the horrible traffic on home game weekends, the news running late because of a game, and well all the hype (yes, we live in the center of football!).  We are in a new conference so it is CrAzY around here.  Anyway. . . my point of the football part of my post is this. . . if you are looking for some good tailgating recipes you can go here to my recipe blog.

Well, I really need to get something done so hope you have a great one!!
