Catch Up Thursday

Ok, here is a quick catch up from the week. Wednesday, we met our good friends K & L for dinner at El Chaparel. Dinner was very good (well, I think most mexican dinners are good!) and we had a great time catching up before and after church. After church we went to Freddie's Frozen Custard for dessert, yummy also! Tonight the Mr. and I skipped dinner because we had a late lunch at Furr's Cafeteria (good mac & cheese). Tomorrow we head home.

Happy Friday!

Tuesday Chatter

Well, last night we ended up eating at Chili's. Nothing exciting but it was really good. I had Cajun Chicken Pasta and the Mr. had Chipotle Chicken Crispers with corn and french fries. It was very filling but by the time we walked around the mall and then walked back to our hotel we were fine.

Tonight we ate at a "hometown" restaurant called Bud Jones. It was pretty good. The Mr. had a cheeseburger with fries (not many fries which was a downer for him) and I had a hamburger steak with brown gravy and onions and a baked potato.

After dinner we went shopping at Goodwill and I came across a special buy that I was really excited to get. I found this book (60th anniversary) along with a cassette tape of the story. I love this book!
Well, that is all for tonight. Tomorrow night we are going to eat Mexican food with our good friends Kenneth and Lea. We haven't seen them in a while and can't wait to get to visit before and after church.
Have a great day!

Weekly Menu

The Mister and I are going to eat at home this week to focus on healthy eating and saving money so here is our menu for the week . . . .

Monday:
out to eat

Tuesday:
out to eat

Wednesday:
out to eat

Thursday:
out to eat

Friday:
out to eat

OK, I told a fib but here is the reason we are eating out all this week, we are out of town because Mr. Giggles has a conference this week and we will be here until Thursday. Since the town we are in has some really good eating places, I will try to remember to tell you about the really cool places we go. I hope to have some neat pics to post also.

Let me tell you about the hotel we are staying in. It is very nice, the outside looks like an old building but the inside is absolutely beautiful. The lobby has wonderful hardwood floors, dark hardwood floors. Our room is sage in color with furniture and lighting that I would love to have in my own home. The hotel staff has been friendly. What was really surprising to us were the different license plates we saw in the parking lot. There were to cars from Ontario Canada, one from Louisiana and one from New Jersey. I am always curious why people from out of state are here (and then when are they going home!!).

Well, I hope you all have a great week. It looks like we are in for a week of warm weather (I am NOT ready for summer. We need RAIN so BADLY... on the way here we saw so many ponds and lakes there were dried up or drying up. . . . what will the farmers do if we don't get the rain we need? How will we feed our cows?)

OK, sorry about the doom and gloom. I really hope you have a great week.

Ms. Kitty update. . . . .she is now home!! She is doing awesome!! I hope to go see her at the end of the week. Any messages for her?

Monday, Monday

I hope everyone have a wonderful Valentine's Day with their sweeties. I had a wonderful dinner with my honey. We had shrimp enchiladas, key lime pie (me), snickers cheesecake (Mr. Giggles), and a very yummy special dessert courtesy of the owner that was a chocolate heart filled with chocolate cake and yummy cream. It was so good. After dinner we went and looked at recliners (my valentine's day and anniversary gift) and then went home and spent the evening watching tv together.

Saturday morning we had our Valentine's Brunch for the older couples and widows from church. We had a wonderful menu again. We had pigs in a blanket, bacon bites with onion and without, pound cake, apple cinnamon, blueberry and banana nut muffins, fruit (pineapple, apples, grapes, blueberries, cantaloupe, strawberries) with fruit dip, orange juice, white grape juice, milk and coffee. Everyone seemed to have had a really great time. We did too but were very tired by the time it was over.

We had a busy weekend but there was one thing I missed that I really wanted to attend but there just wasn't time. Mrs. H had a gathering at her house Friday night, I hope they had a good time.

Well, that is it for tonight. I have to get some work done!! No, really, I do!!

OH....Ms. Kitty will be released on Thursday!!

Have a good one!

It's almost Friday!!!

Ms. Kitty news: We found out last night that she will be released from therapy next week! Can you believe it. She is doing well but I still haven't been able to go by and see her. Maybe this weekend!

This has been a busier week for me. Tuesday I taught a half day in 4th grade. The kids were fun! Wednesday I taught music at my old elementary school. That is always fun. I got to watch "Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible No Good Very Bad Day eight times!!! What a treat! Today was a half day in kindergarten. Oh, today reminded me about why I don't want to teach K or 1st grade. They were good but too much noise and neediness!!

Tomorrow Mr. Giggles and I are going out to eat dinner at a friend of ours restaurant tomorrow night for Valentine's day. The food is awesome and I am really excited. Saturday we are helping host a Valentine's brunch for the older couples and widows at our church. We enjoy doing this and those who come seem to enjoy it also. Good food for this too!

Well, that's all for now. Have a great rest of the week!

Storytime

Ok, now I will warn you that I think this story is HILARIOUS but you may not think so. If you don't please just laugh with me (not at me)!!

My student teaching consisted of teaching for 6 weeks each in two different schools, two different grades. My first placement was in a tough (scary) middle school teaching 7th grade English. We all know that they understand sarcasm and such because they practice on their parents daily! Even though this isn't really a story of sarcasm, it shows how innocent and trusting little kids are and how they sometimes really don't understand what in the world we are talking about!! My second placement was with a wonderful group of 2nd graders. I love those kids (they helped me realize that teaching really is my thing because I was ready to quit during the 7th grade placement! Anyway, let me set the tone for this story. . . . . During my student teaching I was pregnant and sick as a dog (all the time - all day long) and I am clumsy (very) so I was really having to concentrate on walking, not falling. I had a pair of shoes that were thick soled and very comfortable but sometimes tripped me up because I didn't pick my feet up high enough. . . . ok so now you should have a picture of me with a group of 2nd graders lining up for lunch. I am walking out of the classroom reminding everyone to get in line, keep your hands to yourself, face the front, get off of the wall (we were in a brand new school), be quiet and so on and so forth. I am walking up the hall toward the front of the line when I stubbed my toe on the carpet in my big thick rubber soled shoes and nearly crashed all over the floor. The kids weren't really paying that much attention to me and when I recovered I said, "Did ya'll see the carpet grab my foot and try to make me fall?". In the next moment when I looked back up and looked at my kids, they were staring at the floor looking to see where the carpet thing was that had grabbed me and tried to make me fall. Well at the precious looks of concern on their face trying to find the bad carpet, I nearly fell down because I was laughing so hard. They even ask me where it was. I still chuckle as I write this because they were so cute and so concerned about the carpet monster.

So, that is my story. I hope you enjoyed it and maybe got a little bit of a laugh.

Have a great day!!

Super Saturday

Ms. Kitty's dad called tonight to let us know that she is really doing well now that she is "home"! Her parents picked DJ (her kitty) up and took her/him home so everyone is doing better now! We haven't seen her yet but I hope to maybe go next week so I will update you then.

I haven't really had much to chat about this week and still don't! I subbed on Thursday in a computer class at an elementary school and on Friday I subbed in a 5th/6th science class. I love the elementary age kids because they are so sweet but the middle school kids are funny because they get your sarcasm (yes, I am full of it!) and can respond. Little kids just don't get it and as an example, I will have to share a story with you from my student teaching days. It will be later though because my computer on has 12% remaining on the battery and I am being lazy and don't want to have to get up and plug it in. Also, if I don't plug it in, I will get off sooner and head to bed!!!

Next week doesn't seem too busy yet, I will spend some time "looking" for old classmates as we prepare for our 20th high school reunion. It is so hard to believe that I have been out of school that long. I have some many memories that are as vivid as if they just happened yesterday! Well, that is until I sit on the floor for a while and then I have to get up and I can't hardly move!!!!!! Well, that is all for tonight. I just had the 10% power message pop up on the computer.

Have a peaceful Sunday!

Worshipful Wednesday

After nearly two months in the hospital far away from friends, Ms. Kitty has returned home. She is in an in-patient rehab in our hometown and we couldn't be happier. She arrived yesterday along with her mom and dad and all are glad to be home and we are overjoyed to have them all back. Thanks for your prayers and again, please keep them coming. She still has a long way to go but look where all of the prayers from wonderful blog friends have gotten us so far! I will be printing out things from the blog for her so if you want to leave her a message, please feel free to do so.

I hope that everyone is having a good week!
