Oh My Goodness

Well, Wednesday may have been the first day of summer but today was the first day of REALLY hot weather!  Our official temp. today was 100.  So not ready for the 100 degree temps.  We were really hoping that TS Debby would head this way so we could get some much needed rain but it doesn't look like it will be heading in our direction at all.  This week the temps will be 100+ until Thursday.  I don't see much getting done outside so I am thankful that we got everything around here mowed yesterday.

Today was the hubsters birthday and we celebrated by eating at Double Dave's and then heading to Home Depot and Sam's.  Yes, we live a very exciting life!!  We celebrated with his family last weekend and we will celebrate with my family later this week.  He wants a pudding cake so I will be "throwing" one of those together later this week.  I will try to remember to take some pictures.

Well, I have 4 more days of summer school and I can't wait to be done.  Our students have been pretty good so it really hasn't been too bad but I am ready to have some time to do what I need and want to do and to sleep past 6 am!

That is all for now.  Have a great week.

Happy Father's Day

Happy Father's Day to the two most important men in my life.  To my loving husband. . . .I only wish that our babies were here with us because you would be the world's best Dad.  To my Dad. . . .you are the best Dad a girl could have.  I love you both very much.

Mom, Dad and I (a looong time ago)

I would post a picture of me and my hubby but. . . . .he is in the witness protection program and doesn't want to be seen!!  Not really, but it is true that he doesn't want to be seen here so I will respect his privacy.

Show Us Your Life - Master and Guest Bedroom

I wasn't going to join Kelly's Korner for her bedroom tour because well, my there is nothing exciting about our rooms, they are no where near as nice as the majority of the ones you will see.  But, I decided that I would go ahead and share.  Not much has changed since 2010 except for the fact that we went from a queen sized bed to a king sized bed, lost the wicker headboard, the metal clothes rack the hubster hangs his clothes on (no room with the bigger bed).  Now we need a new quilt since the old one is a queen size but I don't want to get a new one because the one we are using is the one my Momma got us.  I looked to see if I could find a king sized on at JCPenney but apparently they don't carry it anymore so I am thinking of maybe find a solid navy blue quilt and using the other one at the end of the bed.  Don't know what I will end up doing since now I don't have the $$ to buy anything that isn't a necessity.  So I won't keep you waiting on the edge of your seat to see our master bedroom!!  This is real life at the Giggles home so please don't judge.  I am not a housekeeper!  Here you go. . . . . .

Looking in from the living room,

Looking towards the living room.  The wardrobe is the hubster's closet.

and this would be my closet.  No, it is not very big and yes it has clothes stacked on a shelf and crammed onto the rods.  We laugh and say that if I took all the clothes off of the hangers they would stay right where they were.
As you can see, the master bedroom is very small and with the bigger bed it is wall to wall furniture.  We have always laughed about being able to walk around the room without ever touching the ground.

Next I will show you our "guest" room.

This is what happens when you get a new bed and need a place for the old one, you have to find room for your hubster's clothes rack AND you have to completely clean out your classroom and you have nowhere else to store stuff!!

School stuff!!

There is enough room in the guest room to use the ironing board and to get to the closet and that is about it.  Besides all of the school stuff and the bed there is a chest of drawers, two bookshelves, a toy box and my cedar chest.

There is actually a 3rd bedroom but it is our office and right now it looks like Hurricane Giggles has blown through.  If I ever get it organized, I will share it with you (but please don't hold your breath waiting for that to happen!).

Thanks for stopping by and checking out our master bedroom.

I guess I should tell you a little about our house.  It was my great-parents home and where my Granddaddy grew up.  The home was build with materials left over after the WW1 barracks were torn down at the local university.  The house is pretty much a square!  When my Granny lived here there was only one closet and it is in the bathroom that was added several years after the house was built.  There are a ton of doors in the house.  Let me see if I can count them all. . .  .front door, back door, utility room door, bathroom door, bathroom closet, kitchen (3), office (3 and this room doesn't even have a closet!), guest room (3), master (2).  I think that is all and I think the number is 15 (some of the doors listed are repeats).  There is not a hallway in our house, not long after we got married the front porch fell off of the house (my grandmother had to have it put back on), the fireplace doesn't work because it was coming away from the house and became a danger.  My grandparents got married in front of the fireplace.  My great grandmother was widowed sometime in the 1940's and at the time my great grandfather died they ran a large dairy.  Following my great grandfather's death my Granny ran the dairy until the early 1970's.  So there is a little bit of the history of our home.  Hopefully I will get it cleaned up more so I can share some of the rest of the rooms.

Half Way

Today completes the second week of summer school. . . . . and now we only two more weeks.  I am so ready for a little bit of downtime!  It hasn't been too bad but I am so tired after the regular school year and now in addition to summer school I am teaching Bible class!  Besides work there hasn't been much going on around here.  We finally got some rain which was much needed.  It has already gotten so hot here and the rain has stopped coming for the most park.  Today Mr. Giggles and I ran errands all afternoon and I thought I was going to melt!  Hopefully the small chance we have for rain this weekend with actually happen!

Yesterday would have been my parents 43rd anniversary.  My parents had an incredible marriage and they were such a great example for those around them.  My sisters and I were very lucky to grow up with parents who always showed love and respect to each other.  I am so thankful for the example they were.  I love my Dad and miss my Mom so much.

Our Weekend and Other Random Thoughts

This weekend the Mr. and I went camping at a state park we hadn't even been to before.  It is hard to believe that the tranquil park we were staying at was less than 20 miles outside of Katy.  It was beautiful and we had a really nice time.  We didn't have phone service at the park so we had no internet which to be honest was kind of nice!!  We did have tv but didn't watch it much.  We did watch two movies which is something that we rarely ever do.  I didn't take many pictures because I just enjoyed sitting in the truck and watching the scenery go by or sitting in the trailer just spending time with the Mr.  It was a very relaxing weekend and now I guess I am ready for week 2 of 6th grade Language Arts summer school.  It has been interesting so far and I have decided that there really isn't much difference between 2nd graders and 6th graders!!

Isn't it interesting how when you think that you are finally dealing with something then it just smacks you square in the face?  Several times this weekend thinking of my Mom immediately brought such pain and tears.  It has been 2 years, 3 months, 1 week and 2 days since we had to let her go.  This weekend it felt like yesterday.  It might be because a friend of mine lost her Mom on Thursday due to cancer and another friend's Dad is under hospice care because of cancer.  It sure does hurt.

A couple of weeks ago my Dad, RAW and I went to the big city to attend my niece's clap out. It is something cool that the elementary school she attends does for the 5th graders who are leaving to head to middle school.  All of the fifth graders walk through the school and the hallways are lined with all of the other kids and they clap as the fifth graders go by.  We went when my nephew was getting ready for middle school.  We picked up Mad Cow and then headed over to the middle school to pick up the soon to be freshman in high school.  While sitting in the truck waiting for the Tatortot, the other short person got a hold of my camera and this is what happened!

On our way home that same day we passed this gem of a barn.  It has looked like this but with different years for as long as I can remember!

And because we were pulled over on the side of the road so I decided to take a picture of the animal I love.  I miss my horses so much.  I hope to one day have a house with some land so I can have horses (at least one) again.  BUT first I have to find a job (again!).

Well, I need to get some things done before I head to bed.  I hope you have a great week.

I have finally gotten my classroom totally cleared out. . . .all that I have left to do is to count my textbooks, turn in my key, pick up a letter and visit with my principal.  I am sad about leaving but I have to remember that God's plans are bigger than mine and I have to trust in him and his timing.  Now. . . .my house is stuffed to the gills with school stuff.  We have also gotten a new king sized bed to replace our queen sized bed so in the next couple of days we will also have a bed leaning against the wall in our extra bedroom.  It is a really good thing that we don't usually have overnight (or any guests) very often.  I am hoping to finally have time to get my living room cleaned up and my winter clothes but away.  I will be working for the next 16 school days at my husbands school teaching reading and writing with 6th graders.  AND that is what has been happening at the Giggles homestead!

Have a great week.
